It is a full version without time usage limit of the WEDELMUSIC editor, Version 8.3 (WEDELMUSIC server and WEDELMUSIC Local Distributor are not included, this version can only work as stand alone editor and not as a client of WEDELMUSIC server to download WEDELMUSIC from Mediateques, Archives, Messageries, etc.) of non protected WEDELMUSIC object. This software can be freely redistributed without permission. The content has to be considered confidential and cannot be used for commercial purpose.

Additions in the version 8.3:

Audio playing and image and document viewing at the same time in the mediaplayer
solved bugs in the music score editor
added editing of several details in the music score editor
added automatic saving engine

This version with a nicer and more user friendly user interface has been produced by EXITECH and has been given to DSI for assessment and trial as this one. This version does not contain large demo objects, they can be obtained by Mediateques. See in the following the visualization of the MEDIAVIEW Mode.

Please send us a CD rom including cataloguing aspects, audio files, videos, images, images of music sheet, any symbolic music notation format that you have, music sheets in paper, colour images, etc. All kind of content that you have, doc, excel, Power Point, Flash, etc... no problem, any content can be included and protected into a WEDELMUSIC object.

For a complete and fully performance installation you need to be logged as ADMINISTRATOR of your computer. The WEDELMUSIC editor can be profitably installed on computer at least Pentium 3 with Windows 2000, or XP. It can work also on smaller computer with some limitations.
The components to install are:

WEDELMUSIC Editor ver. 8.3
Direct X if you would like to produce or to view WEDELMUSIC object containing videos ,
GhostScript and Ghost View if you would like to see Postscript file contained in WEDELMUSIC object ,
FLASH if you would like to see HTML pages containing Flash animations
MS-WORD or the free WORD-VIEWer if you would like to see and prepare WEDELMUSIC objects containing MS-WORD files,
EXCEL or the free EXCEL-VIEWer if you would like to see and prepare WEDELMUSIC objects containing MS-EXCEL files,
Acrobat Viewer, version 5 if you would like to build or see PDF files into WEDELMUSIC objects
Internet Explorer 6 or higher, if you would like to work with protected objects and direct connection with the database. For local usage the IE 5 can be enough
WEDELMUSIC Finale plug in, if you would like to transform you Finale files into WEDELMUSIC format. Please remember that also Finale, Sibelius, SCORE, IGOR, etc, can be included into the WEDELMUSIC object.
WEDELMUSIC Sibelius plug in. If you would like to transform your Sibelius files into WEDELMUSIC format, this feature permits to convert music notation files in SCORE format into WEDELMUSIC importing them into Sibelius and expeorting them in WEDELMUSIC format. Please remember that also Finale, Sibelius, SCORE; IGOR, etc, files can be directly included into the WEDELMUSIC object. Presently the Sibelius converter is not avalaible in this CD, please contact wedelmusic coordinator for information.

Content and News

This version present and start with the MEDIAVIEW Mode. MediaView Mode is a view that makes the WEDELMUSIC editor more similar to a media player. The traditional technical interface from which you can access to all functionalities can be accessed by deselecting the MediaView Mode from the menu on the left.The MediaView works well only on Windows 2000 and XP, on Windows NT it is automatically disabled.
This is a version of the WEDELMUSIC editor for producing and reading WEDEL objects. It supports both protected and non protected WEDEL format, while it fully supports the WEDEL XML format for coding music notation and all the other related objects and Synchronisations, see the enclosed DTDs (the other DTDs have to be expressely requested to the WEDELMUSIC.org). It allows the integration of music score in symbolic notation (WEDEL format and any other format: IGOR, Sibelius, Finale, etc.), images of music scores (PNG format, as producd by the Image Slicer also included into the CDrom), documents (MS-Word, PDF, RTF, ASC, WPD, WPS, XLS, PostScript, TXT, HTM, HTML, HTML with FLASH included, etc.), audio files (wave, mp3, snd, aif, etc.), videos (mpeg, avi, quick time, mpeg1, mpeg2, wma, mov, etc.), files of other music notation programs (MIDI, Finale MUS, Finale ETF, Sibelius SIB, etc.), image file (TIFF, GIF, JPEG, PNG, BMP, PNM, JPG, TGA, PCX, PCD, TIFFFE, etc.), performance, classification, identification, Lyric documents, etc.

The new features added and not reported in the WEDELMUSIC manual are:

New User Interface, the MediaView Mode as above
registration on line, needed to certify the tool for getting protected WEDELMUSIC objects.
Extended Video Player, included videos can be protected as well
Extended image viewer, included images can be protected as well
You can include: animations, html files, flash, etc.
Extended document viewer, included documents can be protected, it allows the inclusion of FLASH files into the HTML document, you have to add the SWF file contianing the Flash dragging and dropping them into the WEDELEDITOR as done for any other content.
Extended Lyric Editor, that allows you to build multilingual lyrics and apply them to the music score when needed. This avoid the need to have several version of the same music score, one for each language.
Performances as sequences of images (sliding show) synchronised with the selected audio file. You can build new sequence by using the command new on the performance folder of the WEDELEDITOR. You can play it by clicking the produce performance with the mouse.
Support for Client users to get and use WEDELMUSIC object from their home and office: BUSINESS TO CONSUMER Model. On this basis, the publisher, mediateque, libararires can share the content among other institutions and librarires. In addition, the libraries that has their Local Distributor can make available their WEDELMUSIC objects on their WEB site, permitting in this way at the registered clients to download objects and to work at home with the same content available in the Library. This process works presently only with ON-LINE connection, stable connection to the Library via Internet of the Client User when it is at home. The Trial site for testing the B2C trnsaction and protection model is: 150.217.15.197.

WEDELMUSIC Editor also includes the prossibility of printing music with and without watermark. Please return to WEDELMUSIC@dsi.unifi.it any suggestion. The WEDELMUSIC editor includes a restricted Help in which you can find a part of the quite large the user manual (that you can find the Documentation directory in the CD rom) and several suggestions on how to build WEDEL Objects. Some Example of printed music and video for showing the main aspects are avaiable on the CD Rom. Please note that the video are approximated demonstrations in terms of synchronisation of events and music.Next version wil include:

synchronisation and execution of video files with symbolic music
synchronisation and execution of video files with images of music sheets
syychronisation and execution of video files with sequence of images
automatic detection of measure number into the image slicer for generating the image scores and synchronising them. This will enourmously accelerate the process of WEDELMUSIC object building
BUSINESS TO CONSUMER model permitting the off-line fruition of the content acquired. This will permit to the client of the Mediateque, library, music shop, to sale their content and at the same time control the right. All the proces is based on a sophisticated Digital Right Management mechanism.

WEDELMUSIC Plug in For FINALE 2001 A Finale Plug in for saving in WEDELMUSIC XML format files loaded in Finale 2001. Those files can be directly loaded into the WEDELMUSIC editor. A reverse plug-in is under betatesting. It will be ready soon for free.

WEDELMUSIC Sibelius Plug in for converting Sibelius files into WEDELMUSIC files is available on specific projects.

Installation of Direct X, needed for the VIDEO dupport of the WEDELMUSIC editor if not already present in your computer.

GhostScript for Printing PostScript Files please install this utility and the next to view and print documents enclosed, both Postscript and PDF formats.

GhostView for Viewing PostScript Files please also install this utility to view and print documents in PostScript format.

Several Examples are directly available after the installazion of WEDELMUSIC Editor. Others can be found in the directory AdditionalMDSfiles of the CD rom, they have to be copied into the MDS directory of the your systems if you would like to see them. All the WEDELMUSIC objects contained in this CD rom are non protected and are demo version, they are covered by copyright and for that reeason are incomplete, are only excerpts and for this reason they are limited. WEDELMUSIC allows publishers and consumers (theatres, orchestras, music schools, libraries, music shops, musicians) to manage interactive music; that is, music that can be manipulated: arranged, transposed, modified, reformatted, printed, etc., respecting copyright. It is an innovative support for preparing performances, studying music, analysing music, learning instruments, distributing music at low cost, etc. The same music objects will be available for traditional media and Braille. These innovative features are possible thanks to the definition and implementation of

a unified XML-based format for modeling music including audio, symbolic, image, document, etc.,
reliable mechanisms for protecting music in symbolic, image and audio formats.
a full set of tools for building, converting, storing, distributing music on the Internet

To distribute and receive music in symbolic format also allows to commercially exploit new functionalities for music consumers and, thus, it allows the opening of a new market for several specific applications.
